It is hard to choose which paintings to present as portraits because so many of my paintings—images of my family, friends, and colleagues painted from sittings or my photographs of them, and narratives composed from photographs and imagination—are, in one way or another, portraits. Among paintings, drawings, and photographs, there are, literally thousands of images of people who populate my world. Please see a few portraits created since 2015 in the New Work of this website. The following are a few of the more direct portraits painted before then.
